The Hospitality, Hotel, and Restaurant Organizing Council (HOTROC,
AFL-CIO) will be gathering to show our support of the newly elected
City Councilmembers Marlin Gusman and Cynthia Willard-Lewis at the regular
City Council meeting which is scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2000.
We anticipate about 100 participants from local labor organizations,
churches, and other community groups to all attend the meeting and share
a few moments afterward with the Councilmembers.
This past election represents a “shifting in the balance of power”
on the City Council and should bode extremely well for upcoming Labor
Peace Initiatives. Finally, we will be able to count on a majority
of the votes to fall in our favor especially in regards to the numerous
Hotel developments that continue to crop up.
