Why Join the Union?
Did you know?
New Orleans has the 4th highest hotel room rates in the United States.
The average rate for a hotel room in New Orleans is $178.00 per night.
However, the hotel workers in New Orleans are some of the lowest paid
in the United States. New Orleans housekeepers make an average of $6.48
per hour. Workers in the other top three convention/tourist destinations
in the US earn:
- New York: $15.24
- Boston: $11.60
- San Francisco: $11.09
Why? It is the UNION difference!!
Workers in the other major convention/tourist destinations are represented
by labor unions. The same corporations that run hotels in other cities
pay their workers living wages because of union representation. In New
Orleans they think of workers as "Cheap Labor" because there
is no union representation. The time has come to take control of our
lives. It is our legal right to organize. Don't be fooled by management's
lies. Exercise your legal right to organize.
